Access database modernization

The company runs on an Access file on one PC. It is slow, it cannot be opened by the crew in the field, and nobody wants to be the person who breaks it. Tervexa moves the data and the screens people actually use into a web system with backups.

Talk through this build

Keep the data, replace the fragile file

We inventory tables, forms, and the reports people print every week. Historical rows move with a check against the old totals. The new app covers those daily forms first. Unused reports do not get rebuilt out of nostalgia.

A cutover that does not stop the business

Staff keep using Access until the new screens match the work. Then we freeze writes, move the last delta, and switch. The old file stays read-only until you trust the new numbers.

More than one login

Web access means the office, a second shift, and a supervisor at home see the same records. Permissions replace “don’t touch that query.”

FAQs

Can you modernize an Access app that has macros and VBA?
Yes. We translate the behavior staff rely on, not every macro. If a VBA routine encodes a business rule, that rule becomes part of the new system in plain language first.
What about Excel workbooks that feed the database?
Those imports are usually part of the project. A weekly paste is a workflow. We either automate it or give people a screen so the paste can stop.
